Refund policy
Effective date: 24 August 2026
US BookGram sells brand-new textbooks. This policy explains when you can send one back, what it costs, and how long a refund takes. It applies to everything bought at usbookgram.com.
The 14-day window
You have 14 days from the day your order is delivered to request a return. Requests made after that cannot be accepted.
"Request" means contacting us. It does not mean posting the book back. Parcels that arrive at our address without an approved return request will not be accepted and cannot be refunded.
How to start a return
- Email support@usbookgram.com within 14 days of delivery. Include your order number and tell us what is wrong. If the book arrived damaged or is not what you ordered, attach photographs.
- We reply with a decision. If the return is approved we send written instructions and the return address, plus a prepaid label where one is due to you (see Who pays return postage below).
- Post the book within 14 days of our approval, packed well enough to survive the journey. Keep your proof of postage until the refund lands.
Returns are received at: US BookGram, 2894 S Orange Ave, Fresno, California 93725, United States. Please do not send anything to that address before we have approved the return.
Condition we can accept
A returned book must reach us in the same condition it left us, because we resell it as new. That means:
- Unread and unused, with no writing, highlighting, annotation, or dog-eared or torn pages
- No cracked spine, no water damage, no stickers or price labels applied or removed
- All original packaging, shrink-wrap, inserts, CDs, DVDs and supplements included
- Accompanied by your receipt or other proof of purchase
Books that arrive used, marked, or incomplete may be refused, or refunded in part to reflect their value. We will always tell you before we do that, and we will return the book to you at your cost if you would rather have it back.
Sealed access codes, shrink-wrap and digital supplements
Read this before you open anything, because it is the one rule that cannot be undone.
Many textbooks are packaged by the publisher with a single-use access code for an online homework or learning platform. A code can be redeemed exactly once, and once it has been exposed or registered it has no value to anyone else.
- A book supplied with an access code can be returned only if the code's seal is intact and the code has not been redeemed.
- A shrink-wrapped bundle can be returned only if the shrink-wrap is unopened.
- Standalone access codes and other digital products are not returnable once delivered.
If you are not certain the book is the right one, check the 13-digit ISBN against your reading list before you break any seal. We are happy to confirm an ISBN by email before you open it.
Items we cannot accept
- Sale and clearance items
- Gift cards
- Standalone access codes and digital products, and any book whose code seal or shrink-wrap has been opened
- Anything requested more than 14 days after delivery
- Anything returned to us without an approved return request
Who pays return postage
If the fault is ours, we pay. Wrong title, wrong edition, wrong quantity, a book damaged in transit or defective from the publisher: we send a prepaid return label, and you are never out of pocket. We also refund what you originally paid for shipping.
If you have changed your mind, you pay. Ordering a book you turned out not to need, buying the wrong edition, or finding it cheaper elsewhere are all fine reasons to return something, but you arrange and pay for the return postage, and the shipping you paid on the original order is not refunded.
We charge no restocking fee in either case. Use a tracked service for change-of-mind returns; until a parcel reaches us it is your responsibility, and we cannot refund a return we never received.
Damaged, defective, or wrong items
Check your order the day it arrives. If the book is damaged, defective, or not the one you ordered, email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photographs of the book and the packaging.
We will replace it or refund it in full, including your original shipping and the cost of returning it, at your choice and at no cost to you. Reporting transit damage promptly matters, because carriers impose their own claim deadlines on us.
Cancelling before dispatch
We ship every day at 5:00 PM ET. If you email us before your order has been handed to the carrier we will cancel it and refund you in full, including shipping. Once an order has shipped it has to be handled as a return.
Exchanges
We do not process direct exchanges, because holding stock against an incoming parcel delays both halves. The fastest route is to return the book you have and place a separate order for the one you want. If the exchange is needed because we sent the wrong item, tell us and we will ship the correct book immediately rather than making you wait.
Refunds
We email you once your return has been received and inspected, and tell you whether the refund was approved.
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
- Your bank or card issuer may take several days more to post the money after we have sent it. That part is outside our control.
- Refunds cover the price you paid for the book. Original shipping is refunded only where the error was ours, as set out above.
Late or missing refunds. Check with your bank or card issuer first, as posting delays are common. If more than 15 business days have passed since we told you a refund was approved and it has not appeared, email support@usbookgram.com and we will trace it.
Orders shipped outside the United States
International orders follow the same 14-day window and the same condition rules, with three differences:
- Return postage on a change-of-mind return is yours to arrange and pay, and international return postage is often a significant share of the price of the book. Please weigh that before ordering.
- Any duties, taxes, customs charges or carrier handling fees levied on the original delivery are set by your country, not by us, and we cannot refund them.
- Mark returned parcels clearly as returned goods. Returns delivered to us with charges outstanding may be refused by the carrier.
Where the law of your country gives you stronger rights than this policy, those rights apply and nothing here limits them.
Questions
Ask before you post anything back. We would rather sort out a wrong edition by email than have you pay postage for nothing.
