Questions buyers ask

When do I use the IRC instead of the IBC?

The IRC applies to detached one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses up to three stories. Most other buildings use the IBC.

Which editions are included?

Both books are 2021 editions from ICC.

What changed for decks in the 2021 IRC?

Deck design now considers snow load, tributary area for footing size, post height and guard details.

Does the 2021 IBC regulate escape rooms?

Yes. Puzzle rooms are now defined as special amusement areas and must meet Section 411 and special means of egress requirements.
